***************************************************

New England Shakespeare Festival, New England's own professional, family-friendly classical theater company, celebrates its fifteenth season with touring performances of Shakespeare's "Much adoe about Nothing" [sic], the Bard's classic comedy of deception, disgrace, and the ultimate triumph of love.

New England Shakespeare, a touring company based in Deerfield, NH, is dedicated to telling Shakespeare's wonderful stories by staging his plays in the original, Elizabethan style. "Much adoe about Nothing" features a cast of veteran Shakespeare performers and is directed by Demitra Papadinis, New England Shakespeare's founder.

"In a way, this is Shakespeare's most truthful romantic comedy," says Papadinis. "It isn't about storybook love - it's about real love, complete with all the disappointments and upheaval that real lovers go through. In this play, it's clear that love is work - but very worthwhile work."

At the center of the play are several pairs of lovers: the besotted Claudio and Hero, the brazen Margaret and Borachio, and the battling Beatrice and Benedicke. In the midst of all the passionate tumult, the couples eventually find their way to happiness - but not before faked deaths, secret identities, salacious scandal and foiled evil plots all transpire. Expect an evening of unexpected plot twists and laughter in this witty and insightful comedy.

Book Discussion Groups

A Book Discussion Group offers individuals an opportunity to read and share ideas and opinions of books in a friendly, relaxed environment.  It encourages participants to read different types of books that they might otherwise overlook, and it gives everyone a chance to enjoy talking about the books that are read.

In August, both book discussion groups are reading The Widow of the South by Robert Hicks. We have several books still available and invite you to join us either Tuesday, August 19th at 7 p.m. or Thursday, August 28th, at 2 p.m. in the Children's Room at Belmont Public Library for a lively and informative discussion.
