Belmont Public Library Rules and Policies

Library Rules:

  • Turn off pagers and cell phones. No cell phone calls in the Library please.  
  • Patrons are requested not to eat, chew gum, or consume beverages in the Library. No tobacco products may be used in the Library.
  • Internet use is for 30 min. If no one is waiting, use may be extended an additional 30 min. for a total of 60 min. each day.  
  • Photocopier, fax, and computers are turned off 15 min. before closing. No exceptions.  
  •  Loudness, and/or language considered profane, obscene or abusive will not be tolerated. Behavior that is disruptive or disturbs other patrons or Library staff will not be tolerated.  
  • Adult Internet users must read and be familiar with the Library’s Internet Use Policy. A copy is kept near the computers or may be requested at the circulation desk.  
  • A parent or adult guardian must accompany children under 10 years of age.
  • We are happy to give Library Cards to children 6 years old and older, but children under 14 years of age must have the Card application signed by a parent/legal guardian.
  • Children under 18 years of age may not use the internet until/unless they and a parent/legal guardian read and sign the Library’s Internet Use Policy.
  • Any illegal behaviors will result in immediate police intervention. Any threatening or dangerous activity will result in police intervention. 
  • No pets are allowed inside the Library during open hours.

Belmont Public Library Bulletin Board and Exhibit Space Policy:
 
Belmont Public Library bulletin boards and exhibit spaces are intended primarily for promotion of Library services and activities. However, consistent with the Library’s role as a community information resource, these areas are available to organizations and individuals engaged in educational, cultural, informational, intellectual, and charitable activities on a space available basis. The Library will not accept for posting, display, or exhibit, commercial materials or advertising by profit-making agencies, groups, or individuals, campaign posters for candidates or issues, or items of a personal nature. In accepting items for posting, display, or exhibit, the Library does not endorse the content of the material or the organization submitting the material.

Closed on Sundays and all legal holidays
