Be a Part of The Big Read @ Belmont Public Library!
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee 
The Center for the Book at the New Hampshire State Library is working with more than 100 partners, including schools, libraries, and bookstores, to encourage Granite Staters to read and discuss a classic work of American literature.
In March 2010, Belmont Public Library will be hosting two book discussions of Harper Lee's novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. The first discussion will take place on Tuesday, March 16th at 7 p.m. and the second on Thursday, March 18th at 2 p.m. Contact the Library to reserve a book.

Kill a Watt Energy Detectors are Here!!
A First Step to Lowering Energy Costs Belmont Public Library now has Kill A Watt energy detectors for people to borrow. These meters plug into electric outlets and show how much electricity is being used. Directions and information are provided with each meter. They were furnished to the Library from New Hampshire State Library, Unitil, nationalgrid, PSNH, and NH Electric Co-op. They can be signed out for 2 weeks. Borrow one and take the first step to leaving a smaller carbon footprint and saving $$$ on your energy bill.

Preschool Story Time
Preschool Story Time will be held on Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m. and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. in the Children's Room. Tuesday Story Time will feature several stories and poems along with a simple activity, such as coloring or stamping. Friday Story Time will continue our usual routine of stories followed by a craft.
This early preschool story time introduces toddlers and very young preschool aged children to language and books through songs, stories, and finger-plays. There are also very easy crafts for little fingers to practice gluing, coloring, and painting.
Story times will resume on January 5th and 8th

Book Discussion Groups
A Book Discussion Group offers individuals an opportunity to read and share ideas and opinions of books in a friendly, relaxed environment. It encourages participants to read different types of books that they might otherwise overlook, and it gives everyone a chance to enjoy talking about the books that are read.
